A selection of short films celebrating the lives of people with disability, their families and carers. Made by production company Bus Stop Films, Bus Stop makes films with, for and about people from diverse backgrounds and abilities. The selection of short films includes: Groundhog Night 15 mins Gary’s so used to caring for his disabled daughter Jess, he can do it in his sleep. But when the in-laws come to stay, everyone will get a wake-up call. The Interviewer 12 mins Thomas Howell gets more than he bargained for at his interview with a prestigious law firm; an insult about his tie, a rendition of Harry Potter and the chance to change the lives of father and son. One Giant Leap 5 mins When a space crew’s lunar mission goes horribly wrong, the team comes up with a creative solution to get back home to earth, and it’s going to take one giant leap! ‘One Giant Leap” is an inclusively made, stop-motion animation produced by students from Bus Stop Films. Lives in Action 9 mins Hear from six Australians challenging the intersecting barriers of disability and ethnicity. What Was It Like? 15 mins Eight filmmakers with intellectual disability interview their parents about what it was like when doctors delivered the news of their diagnosis. Not A Wallflower 7 mins Ben is a spritely young man with a bright future. Living with autism is of no consequence for Ben, except when it comes to his boss, and finding love. Will Ben bloom beyond the wallflower? Join us for this very special event. Free but bookings essential. Accessibility Cowra Civic Centre has a lift at the premises for easy access of all patrons. Please note in regard to wider wheelchair only one person can access the lift and hence the client will be alone in the lift for approx 15-20 secs.
