Cowra Regional Art Gallery is delighted to present the 2023 edition of the Makers Film Festival (MFF) an international showcase of craft makers and making in a jam-packed program of 17 short films over 90 minutes (with an interval).

The film-making and story-telling approaches in this year’s short film festival are as varied as the craft disciplines presented. The program includes a wonderful diversity of films from favourites Tjanpi Desert Weavers to a charming survey of craft from Kazakhstan,

Interviews, documentaries, and stop motion animations uncover traditions, skills and consequences in a glorious survey of making – furniture, public art, textiles, baskets, ceramics, glass, jewellery, and more.

You don’t have to be a ‘maker’ to enjoy these films. As the stories are intrinsically about connections, creativity, the power of the hand, tactility and our most basic human instinct to shape materials. Ranging from just 60 seconds to 9 minutes, there’s plenty to inspire.

Don’t miss this captivating collection of films from talented artisans, craft artists and filmmakers. This unique short film festival is an Art After Dark event presented by the Cowra Regional Art Gallery.
