Each year since 1964 Cowra has held the Cowra Festival of International Understanding. A guest nation is chosen and the town, in collaboration with local representatives of that nation, plans a program of events. These events include activities for young and old including a Tree Planting Ceremony, Ringing of the Peace Bell, Street Parade, Carnival and cricket match.

The Opening Dinner is one of the Flagship events of the festival.

It consists of a 3 course sit down dinner featuring fine Australian/New Zealand foods and a complimentary welcome drink.

Entertainment includes Traditional Aboriginal and Maori welcomes, cultural performances, karaoke semi-finalists and much more.

This year’s special guests include Mayor Bill West, Dame Annette King, New Zealand High Commissioner to Australia, Anna Booth (NZ Tourism and Enterprise).
