Spend the day learning and then performing two new dance styles, Afro-Contemporary and Gumbooting! You will dance barefoot for Afro-Contemporary and you will need to bring a pair of gumboots for the Gumbooting. 

At 9am meet your dance teacher and choreographer, Lucky Lartey. Learn from him until noon then take a break for lunch. At 1pm tech rehearsal for 90 minutes in preparation for the performance at 4pm - a performance which you be a part of! Surprise audience!

Lucky is a Sydney-based dancer and choreographer, originally from Ghana, West Africa. Lucky’s dance and choreographic works look for ways to negotiate what it means to draw on a rich history of traditional rhythm and dance whilst engaging with contemporary movement practices. His work is informed by themes of social justice and explorations of what it means to live as a person of African descent in Western culture. 

Lucky is a dancer and choreographer at the forefront of exploring intercultural dance practices as part of the contemporary dance space as well as contributing to an ongoing dialogue regarding intercultural dance practice and its meaning in Australia.
