Cowra Civic Centre presents
MUSIC FOR WORLD PEACE DAY
Cowra has an extensive history and story to tell about the role of peace. Drawing on the events of the Cowra Breakout with the Japanese and Italian prisoners of war, the World Peace Bell, the Japanese Garden, Peace Precinct and ongoing commitment to international understanding, composer in residence, Nicholas Gentile, has created new music that reflects all of this. He has included the World Peace Bell (outside Cowra Civic Centre) as an instrument in the composition.
Instead of a live performance, the orchestral work will be broadcast on the back of vehicles which will be driven slowly through the residential streets of Cowra, taking the music to the people.
